The Cutest Boo Crew in Town: A Little Spooky, a Whole Lot of Sweet

What happens when tiny fangs, rosy cheeks, and a few mummy wrappings meet on a cookie tray? The cutest Boo Crew in town!

For this set, I imagined a little group of Halloween friends, all dressed up and ready to head out together for a night of trick-or-treating. Each one needed its own personality, but those sweet faces and little cheeks would bring the whole crew together.

Last year, I went with darker colors: dark purple, an intense shade of pink, and black. This time, I wanted to lean into classic Halloween colors. Bright orange, lively green, black, and white, with touches of red and brown, felt just right for these five little characters.

Meet Little Drakie, Little Frankie, Little Mummy, Little Pumpkin, and Little Witch! Here’s how to bring this sweet little crew to life with icing and a few finishing details.

The Colors Behind the Crew

All six icing colors I used are from The Cookie Countess:

● Outrageously Orange: for that cheerful pumpkin orange and Little Witch’s hair.

● Whipped White: for white details and Little Mummy’s wrapping.

● Gourmet Green: for Little Frankie and Little Witch’s green accents.

● Royal Red Velvet: for Little Drakie’s cape lining and bow tie.

● Tuxedo Black: for hair, outfits, shoes, and spooky little details.

● Totally Brown: for brown hair and Little Frankie’s outfit.

I used mostly hybrid-consistency icing for this set. Working in alternating sections and letting the icing crust before filling neighboring areas helped keep the shapes defined. That little pause makes a difference when you want individual pumpkin sections, clothing, and other details to stand out.

I also used an Ateco 101 petal tip for the mummy’s wrapping, with stiff consistency to add texture.

For the finishing touches, I used a black edible marker for the facial details and a brush with petal dust for those rosy cheeks. Always let the icing dry completely before drawing or dusting. I also used edible paint for Frankie’s bolts and the Witch's hat detail, and a little cocoa powder to give the mummy a dusty finish.

For a better understanding of icing consistencies refer to this blog here. We also have a very thorough online class here.

If you are comfortable cutting and piping/flooding with tipless bags, go for it! If you prefer tips I would recommend a #1 or #1.5 tip for details and outlines , and a #2 or 2.5 for flooding.

Below you will find step by step instructions for all the cookies. Followed by videos on how to decorate them. Feel free to have fun! Use different colors, or different techniques. Let your creativity shine if you want!

From Little Boos to Holiday Cheer

And just like that, the cutest Boo Crew in town is ready for Halloween! I love how each cookie has its own personality, while the classic colors and rosy cheeks make them feel like they belong together. A tiny bow tie, a few stitches, or a little dusting of cocoa can add so much character.

As this little crew gets ready for its trick-or-treating debut, I’m already looking forward to the holidays ahead. There are cozy Thanksgiving designs to dream up, Christmas cookies waiting for their turn, and so many sweet reasons to pick up a piping bag again.

For now, it’s all about tiny fangs, pumpkin grins, and a little Halloween magic. Next up: a whole new season of cookies, color, and holiday cheer!

Happy Baking!
