Introducing the Cookie Countess Cookie Capsule Collection!

Tired of using boring clear bags as packaging for your beautiful decorated cookies? Or maybe you’ve been looking for a more protective way to package them that is just as pretty as the cookies themselves? Well, look no further than the Cookie Countess Cookie Capsule Collection (say that ten times fast!). These beautiful and functional options for cookie packaging are about to take your cookie game to the next level!

What are Cookie Capsules?

Custom-designed right here at the Cookie Countess, this new packaging option is sure to wow. Consisting of two shapes of clear domes and greaseproof backers that come in two different scalloped shapes and EIGHT different colors, you can use them to fully customize your cookie look. Not only that, but the backers each have a glossy side and a matte side, so you can really decide what look you want when you attach the capsule. Both sides are greaseproof!

Both domes were custom designed by us here at the Cookie Countess to accommodate the most common cookie shapes and sizes and to take into account the raised surface of decorated sugar cookies. The domes have a depth of 1", so that whether your cookies are simply flooded or are fully embellished with florals and designs on top, they will still fit nicely within the constraints of the domes. No one wants to see their cookies smooshed by a dome that isn’t tall enough! And if your cookies aren’t quite so tall, well a dab of royal icing on the back of the cookie can act like glue to stick the cookie to the backer and keep it from shifting around unnecessarily!

We also specifically designed the rectangular domes to fit on our existing backer selection, so if you are looking for a more patterned vibe without the scalloped edge design, feel free to use your existing backers! The glue strip on the dome will run right along the edge of the backer, giving you as much space for a cookie as possible without going over the edge.

How to Use Them

  • First, make sure your cookies will fit! More about this later, but the round domes can generally accommodate a 3.7” cookie, and the rectangular domes can accommodate a 3.25" x 4.25” cookie.
  • If you will be “gluing” your cookie into place, smear a dab of royal icing on the back of the cookie and adhere it to the center of the backer, allowing to dry before moving; if you lift the backer vertically before the icing glue is dry, the cookie may shift out of position.
  • Remove the adhesive strip around the edge of the dome and carefully place into position.
  • The glossy side of the backers have a centered outline you can follow to attach the domes.
  • Once the domes are in position, they are difficult (if not impossible) to move without damaging the packaging, so make sure you are careful when applying the domes.
  • The capsule collection is food-safe and will keep your cookies fresh just like heat sealed clear cookie bags do.
  • To remove, simply peel the edge of the dome away from the edge of the backer and tear.
  • Cookie capsules are NOT reusable.

Some Things to Consider

  • The most important thing to take into consideration (as with choosing ANY packaging) is going to be your cookie’s size and shape. The rectangular capsules have an interior diameter of 3.3” x 4.3”, and the round capsules have an interior diameter of 3.875”. Your cookies must be able to fit within those constraints in order to work with the capsule collection.
  • I know this might sound self explanatory, but a 3.875” square cookie is not the same as a 3.875” round cookie. You will not be able to fit a square cookie of that size within the constraints of the round capsule, since the corners will cause an issue. Measure your cookies accordingly.
  • If the size of the cutter you have selected is very close to the interior diameter size of the capsules, you MUST take spread into account. “Oh, my cookies don’t spread” you might be saying right now. Maybe. Maybe not. I would not advise waiting to evaluate the truth of that statement until when you go to package your cookies up.
  • You also have to take into consideration the height of your cookies. How are they going to be decorated? PYO cookies have practically no embellishment other than the flooded base, so they would be a non-issue. But if you have elaborate florals or embellishments planned for the tops of your cookies, make sure you stay within the height constraints of the capsules. Another key thing to note is that the rectangular capsules have vertical sides and a flat top, whereas the round capsules are a dome, so they have less height room towards the edges. Plan accordingly.

When to Use Them

I mean, when wouldn't you use them?! The options are virtually endless, but here are a few suggestions:

  • Pop-ups: If you are a cookier who does pop-ups to sell your baked goods, these are a fantastic option. Not only are they an eye-catchingly pretty way to merchandise your products, but they are protective and functional, as well! No more smashed cookies on the table, and you can even stand them up for more visual appeal and space saving!
  • Classroom treats: I know that every time I have ever sent cookies into school with one of my daughters, the fear of them getting smashed in a backpack by an unbothered 3 rd grader is so real. Cookie Capsules are an almost foolproof way to send cookies to school so that they don’t arrive damaged!
  • Party favors: Cookie Capsules elevate your cookie into a full-blown thank-you gift on its own. For extra pizzazz, you could even attach a second dome to the back of your backer and add candies, small toys, or even a gift card!

The Cookie Countess Cookie Capsule Collection is a great way to turn your cookies into full-blown gifts! Mix and match the backers to achieve the look you desire, and make sure to tag us on social media to show off your creations!

The Capsule Collection is a genius idea! I really like this and will look for a way to use it in the future. My only issue will be working within the size. I don’t see using this for a “set” of cookies (each packaged in a capsule) but rather to replace using a sealed bag and perhaps a topper for cookies I sell individually. They are typically nameplate cookies for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. This is a nice alternative to a bag. But, the cookies I use a bag and topper for average 4” – 5”. Maybe as this collection gets more and more popular we’ll see more sizes? Love the idea, though. Hope the comment helps.
