June Cutter Club - Under the Sea

Under the Sea!
There’s something truly magical about the ocean—and this cookie set brings that under-the-sea enchantment right to your dessert table! I had so much fun decorating these five ocean-inspired cookies: a seashell, an anchor, swaying sea kelp, a dreamy jellyfish, and a cute little clam holding a pearl. Each one came to life with jewel like coastal colors that make the whole set feel like a beachy fairytale!

Let’s talk about the colors first—because honestly, that’s one of my favorite parts of designing a set. I chose a palette of teal, purple, light blue-green, lavender, and a warm sandy tan, and they all work so beautifully together. The colors are calm and whimsical, giving the set a playful yet elegant feel. They pair perfectly with the ocean theme without being too bold or too bright.
Each cookie has its own charm. The seashell is delicate and detailed, with subtle shimmer that makes it look like it was just picked up from the shore. The anchor adds a bold pop of structure to the set, tying it all together. The sea kelp has movement and flow, achieved by using piping tips, almost like it’s swaying underwater. The jellyfish might just be my favorite. With its floating tentacles and pastel hues, it looks like it’s mid-swim! And of course, the clam with a pearl adds a sweet little surprise. It’s so cute and dainty, and the tiny pearl detail gives it just the right touch of magic. Whether you’re planning a beach-themed party, an ocean baby shower, or just want to make a splash with your baking, these cookies are a whimsical and sweet way to go.

To achieve a coastal vibe on these colors, I added a tiny bit of sunshine yellow to most of my icings to add warmth and vibrancy.
I made a stiff consistency, and hybrid flood consistency for all the colors except for the tan. For the tan I just made the hybrid. (A hybrid is considered slightly stiffer then a true flood. It holds up better on cookies that have sectioning.)
For a better understanding of icing consistencies refer to this blog here. We also have a very thorough online class here.
If you are comfortable cutting and piping/flooding with tipless bags, go for it! If you prefer tips I would recommend a #1 or #1.5 tip for details and outlines , and a #2 or 2.5 for flooding.
I also used tips #65 and #101 with the stiff icing on the jellyfish and sea kelp cookies.
I used this beige marker for sketching out the sections and designs of the cookies. This is very helpful to keep everything straight and spatially correct. You can always use a mini projector to do this as well.
Below you will find step by step instructions for all the cookies. Followed by videos for 3 of them! 2 extra this month! Feel free to have fun! Use different colors, or different techniques. Let your creativity shine if you want!
