Red Velvet Roll Out Cookies, from Genie's Dream

Genie's Dream Red Velvet Emulsion can be used just like any other flavoring, so give it a try in your cookies, cakes, and brownies for an incredible red velvet flavor!

Here's a recipe from "Genie" herself for Red Velvet Roll Out Cookies. These were a huge hit when she debuted them at Cookie Con 2020, and now you can try them at home!

Genie’s Red Velvet Rollout Cookies

Cream together:
  • 2 sticks of butter
  • 4 oz (1/2 block) cream cheese
  • 1 cup sugar
Add in:
Mix until well blended, then slowly add in:
  • 3 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk powder
  • 2 Tablespoons Genies Dream Cocoa Number 3 (sift into the flour first to prevent clumping)
  • A pinch of salt
Mix till it comes together well and pulls away from the side of your mixer.
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for about 15 minutes to avoid having to use any extra flour to roll it out. Roll between 2 sheets of parchment to your desired thickness.
Preheat oven to 375*F
Bake just until the cookies are no longer shiny on top. For 1/4” thick cookies, check at about 7-8 minutes. For 3/8” check at about 10 minutes.
Do not over-bake cookies made with cocoa or they will dry out quickly and become hard.
Once cooled, you can flood these cookies with royal icing or have them as is! Try some Cream Cheese Flavoring in your icing for a special treat!
